法華経義疏にて「常に如来の道場を護りて法を聞く、故に多聞と名づく」とあり、金比羅な別名をもつ。須弥山第四層北の水精宮に住み、四天王の一人。夜叉羅刹などを支配して、国土及び人間界を守護し、手に持てる塔より、無量の財宝を出し、衆生に福徳を授ける。古来、この天は常に吉祥天と関連せしめ、夫婦の如く説き、更に大黒天を加えて三尊合行（三面大黒天）となす場合もある。

Bishamon Ten

Bishamon Ten is also called Tamon Ten (listen to many techings) because he always protects the places Nyorai teaches in and listsens to the laws. He is also called Konpira because he is the god providing wealth. He is enshrined in Suisei-kyu(palace of water) in the north of Mt.Sumisen.a member of Happo Ten or Shitenno(Four Buddhist guardians). He is attended by Yasha, Setsura. He protects the land of Buddha and the sentient world. This ten is explained to be a couple with Kissho Ten. He is also worshipped as the Three Daikoku Ten joined by Daikoku Ten.
